Ketosis

Cause:
Lack of exercise, does out of condition - Over fatness

Symptoms:
Occurs just before or just after kindling, diarrhea, loss of appetite, listless, excessive fat in abdomen.

Treatment:
When a doe goes off feed for a few does, just before she is due to kindle, it usually points to ketosis. Without prompt treatment the disease is usually fatal. It is most prevalent in fat, out of condition breeding does.


Help prevent ketosis by limiting feed ration in dry does and developing juniors. Use pens having at least 8 square feet of floor space to encourage exercise and body condition.
