Orchitis (Infection)
Cause:
Pus-forming bacteria
Symptoms:
Inflammation and swelling of the testicles
Treatment:
None, dispose of the animal
Orchitis is a disease affecting the testicles and reproductive tract of the buck. An infected buck is able to infect a doe after breeding and produce a case of metritis in the doe. On the other hand, a doe infected with metritis can produce an orchitis in a clean buck.
Since both diseases are transmissible and difficult to treat, it is best to dispose of the animals. Always clean and disinfect all equipment and cages after removal of such animals.
