A rabbit with this condition lis unable to move without dragging its hind legs, and lies on its side. Injuries resulting in a broken neck or damage to the spinal cord, or a displaced spinal disc will cause this paralysis to the hindquarters.

Dropping the rabbit, a sudden noise that might startle the rabbit causing it to bolt against his cage, or improper handling of the rabbit can all lead to paralysis.

A breeder should protect their stock from any disturbing outside forces causing nervous rabbit, and from predators. Does that are pregnant are more vulnerable. Since many cases happen at night, it is important to have your rabbit in a protected environment.

If the rabbit doesn't recover in a reasonable amount of time, it is best to put the animal down and prevent any further suffering.
