Pinworm

Cause:
Feed or water contaminated by feces that contains the eggs

Symptoms:
Live pinworms may be seen in the rabbit droppings.

Treatment:
Pinworms in rabbits are small white worms, about 1/2" in length. Live pinworms may be seen in the dropping of the infested rabbit. They are found in the posterior intestine and produce irritation causing the rabbit to rub off the fur around the anus.


Pinworms seldom cause death, however they do lower an animals vitality and make them more prone to ailments. Good management along with proper equipment, frequent cleaning of the hutch floor including feeders, and waterers will help reduce contamination. This is the best way to reduce the possibility of infestation of pinworms in your rabbitry.
