Ringworm (Favus) is caused by a fungus-like growth that appears around the nose, ears, head, paws and legs of a rabbit. It forms circular patches of scaly skin with red elevated crusts.

Highly contagious and is the only known rabbit ailment to be transmissible to man. Clothing and Gloves should be disposed of after treatment of the animal. All hutches, nest boxes, equipment and surrounding areas should be carefully disinfected. If treatment fails, and the animal gets worse, it should be put down and the carcuss burned or buried.

Thankfully this is rather rare and and very few rabbits contact the disease.
